TDC Mobil to use Cognima Snap™ to offer enhanced user experience for camera-phone photo sharing service

TDC Mobil and TDC Online will mobile-enable web album with Cognima Snap™

UK, 10 Nov 05 - TDC Mobil, Denmark’s leading mobile communication company, has teamed up with Cognima, the effortless mobile imaging company, for easy interaction with TDC Online’s web album using Cognima Snap™ technology.

TDC customers can now upload photos taken on camera-phones with a single key press to the TDC Online web album, where images can be stored, shared, printed and even made into real postcards. The service will be available by early 2006 to all TDC customers on a range of supported handsets, to provide an enhanced end-user experience. This latest offering adds to TDC’s existing mobile consumer colour wap portal, ‘Fly’. The new service will be available on both TDC Mobil (www.tdcmobil.dk) and TDC Online’s website (www.tdconline.dk) for download and also available as a pre-installed application on TDC handsets for new customers.

Cognima Snap™ upload vs. MMS upload

Whilst many upload solutions are based on MMS, it is impossible to implement full two-way album synchronisation between web albums and phone handsets. MMS-based solutions also suffer from image compression on the handset, which typically reduces the image quality to below print standard. Cognima Snap provides a much simpler solution to the image quality problem because it uploads full quality images of any size directly to the server via the GPRS / 3G network.

Mark Bole added, ‘Cognima Snap technology provides a uniquely simple sign-up process directly from TDC Mobil handsets, making it very easy for new TDC subscribers to become part of the imaging ecosystem via TDC Online’s widely used web album.’
