Atlantic Records UK Adopts ShoZu-Enabled Phones To Broaden Artist Reach, Providing Instant Mobile-to-Web Image Transfers

Warner Music International the First Music Major to Work with ShoZu in Europe

LONDON, UK and BURBANK, CA, 15 Apr 07 - Atlantic Records UK, a division of Warner Music International, announced today that it is adopting ShoZu’s one-click handset-to-web video and photo uploading service to connect its artists and fans online. The agreement is the first in Europe and the latest in a series of ShoZu/record label partnerships that enables artists to easily post video clips and photos taken with camera phones onto their own websites, social network sites, and photo and video sharing communities such as YouTube.

Atlantic UK performers equipped with ShoZu-powered phones will now be able to create their own behind-the-scenes photos and video clips with the handset, add comments or captions, and immediately transmit the content to assorted web destinations with one click.

The first Atlantic UK artists to use the service will be Funeral For A Friend (FFAF), the five-piece Welsh post-hardcore band whose new album 'Tales Don't Tell Themselves' is released on 14th May, and newly signed, critically acclaimed band Hadouken! A range of Funeral For A Friend's content shot using a ShoZu phone can be viewed via the band's official YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/funeraltube. The label will also be furnishing Hard-Fi, James Blunt and a variety of other performing artists with ShoZu phones.

“We continue to explore new ways of connecting music fans with the bands they love. With ShoZu, we can make it easy and fun for our artists to embrace the power of social networking sites and other Web 2.0 technologies and offer fans unique and exciting content,” said Jack Melhuish, Digital Manager of Atlantic UK. “ShoZu’s one-click image uploading is fast, easy and most importantly mobile. This makes it possible for artists to stay in touch with their fan base, wherever they are.”

“The camera phone is a powerful tool to capture a part of the music experience. It’s there on the tour bus, backstage, at parties, in the studio, and even at home, and it can bring fans right into their favourite bands’ lives like a fly on the wall,” said Jennifer Grenz, ShoZu Senior Director of Marketing. “Agreements like this one add the ability to instantly get those videos and photos from the handset to the web for constant content refreshes. This reaches music consumers where they live: online.”

ShoZu’s Share-It service enables users to upload photos and video clips captured on their camera phones with fewer clicks, at higher resolution and to more web destinations than any other method. There is no need to transfer files to a PC, interrupt phone calls or photo taking during transfers, or start over in the event of a dropped connection (ShoZu automatically resumes from the point of failure). The service also automatically attaches location tags to images when GPS-enabled handsets are used, providing valuable capabilities for touring artists who want their fans to be able to follow their progress on a map.

ShoZu currently supports over 155 mobile phones, including the new Motorola MOTORIZR Z8 hi-def Smartphone as well as a variety of GPS and WiFi models.
