Sending photos and videos

This applies to ShoZu Smartphone edition only.

1-click Send photos and videos with 1-click

After adding your sites and email addresses you can begin using '1-click' sending:

  1. Take a photo or video
  2. The camera will prompt you to Send
  3. Click OK

Done! Your photo or video is now on its way in the background while you continue to use your phone.

Note: Some sites support only photos, some support only videos. ShoZu will only let you upload the supported media for each site.

Clicking More options from the camera prompt gives you the following additional options:

Send to... - sends to your '1-click' site.
Add details - add a title, description and search tags before sending. More info.
Send to email - enter a one-time email address or choose from your phone's address book.
Send to other - send to one of your stored sites or email addresses. Also allows you to add details.
Open ShoZu - opens the full ShoZu application.
Hide this popup - stops the '1-click' popup from appearing again.

This applies to ShoZu Smartphone edition only.

1-click 1-click settings

Your '1-click' site/email has a number '1' beside it (1-click). You can choose a different site/email for photos and videos. You can change your 1-click at any time from our website:

  1. Sign in to www.shozu.com on your computer
  2. From the menu select Change one-click destination

This applies to ShoZu 3.0 and above Smartphone edition only.

Or from your phone:

  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Highlight a site/email address in your list of sites/destinations
  3. From the menu choose Set as photo 1-click or Set as video 1-click

You can adjust what happens after you take a new photo or video:

This applies to ShoZu 1.7 and 3.X Smartphone edition only.

  • From the menu select Settings > Share-It > New images/videos

Auto send - sends the photo/video automatically after you take it.
Confirm send - asks you immediately after taking a photo/video if you want to send it (ie. default '1-click' popup).
Skip - ignores all new photos/videos taken. You can upload them later.

This applies to ShoZu 4.0 Smartphone edition only.

  • From the menu click Go to > Settings > Sending > Sending new photos/videos

Auto send - sends the photo/video automatically after you take it.
Ask before sending - asks you immediately after taking a photo/video if you want to send it (ie. default '1-click' popup).
Don't send - ignores all photos/videos taken. You can upload them later.

This applies to ShoZu 4.0 for iPhones only.

You may notice that on ShoZu.com some of your sites are marked as being ‘1-click’ sites.  This will only apply to you if you start using another phone, so until then you can ignore this.

AllFiles Send photos and videos within ShoZu

All of the photos and videos you have taken previously can be sent from within the ShoZu application:

This applies to ShoZu 1.7 Smartphone edition and 1.7 & 3.X Java edition only.

  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Click All files
  3. Highlight a photo or video
  4. From the menu click Send to..
  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Click All files
  3. Highlight a photo or video
  4. From the menu click Send to..

This applies to ShoZu 3.X Smartphone edition only.

  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Click Share-It > All files
  3. Highlight a photo or video
  4. Click Send to... from the menu

This applies to ShoZu 4.0 only.

  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Select a site or email
  3. Click Send to...
  4. Highlight a photo or video
  5. Click Send

Done! Your photo or video is now sending (you'll notice a green 'Up' arrow). Send as many as you like at the same time.

To email a photo/video to an address you have not yet added:

This applies to ShoZu 1.7 and 3.X only.

  1. In All files view highlight a photo or video
  2. From the menu select Send to Other > Email
  3. Enter as many email addreses as you like seperated by a semicolon ";" (or click Add recipient from the menu to access your phone's address book)
  4. Add a Message
  5. Click Send from the menu
  6. You will be asked if you wish to store the address for future use

This applies to ShoZu 4.0 only.

  1. Click Send to email > Send to new
  2. Highlight a photo or video
  3. Click Send
  4. Enter as many email addreses as you like seperated by a semicolon ";" (or click Add recipient from the menu to access your phone's address book)
  5. Add a Message
  6. Click Send from the menu
  7. You will be asked if you wish to store the address for future use

To send multiple photos/videos at the same time:

This applies to ShoZu 1.7 and 3.X Smartphone edition only.

  1. In All files view highlight a photo or video
  2. From the menu select More actions > Select multiple
  3. Mark the ones you wish to send (Mark)
  4. From the menu click Send to...

This applies to ShoZu 1.7 and 3.X Java edition only.

  1. In All files view highlight a photo or video
  2. From the menu click Mark/Unmark > Mark
  3. Do this for all the ones you wish to send Mark
  4. From the menu click Send to...

This applies to ShoZu 4.0 only.

  1. Click a site or email
  2. Click Send to...
  3. Click More actions > Mark multiple from the menu
  4. Click the ones you wish to send (Mark)
  5. Click Send from the menu

Tip: Hold the edit/pencil key down while scrolling through your photos/videos to select multiple items quickly.

Tip: Choosing Mark all will allow you to send all photos/videos in one go.
This applies to ShoZu Smartphone edition for iPhones only.

All of the photos you have taken with your iPhone or synced with iPhoto can be sent to your favorite sites with ShoZu, along with titles, descriptions and tags:

  1. Open ShoZu
  2. Click a site
  3. Click Send photos
  4. Pick a photo
  5. Enter a title, description and tags if you wish
  6. Click Send

Done! Your photo is now sending and will appear in the 'My uploads' section under that site in ShoZu.

Note: Some sites have monthly upload limits. ShoZu detects this and will wait for the limit to clear before sending your photos and videos.
This applies to ShoZu Java edition for BlackBerry phones only.

  5. Add a Message

AllFiles Add titles, descriptions and tags

If your site supports titles, descriptions and tags you can add them to your photos and videos before and/or after sending.

  1. Highlight a photo or video
  2. Highlight a photo
  3. From the menu click Add details
  4. Add a Title and Description
  5. From the menu click Add new tag if you wish to add tags
  6. From the menu click Send to...

Note: If you've already sent the photo or video before adding tags, only the new information you added will be sent. You do not have to wait for the photo/video to upload again.

Comment Read and post comments

You can read and reply to comments people make on your photos and videos (if available for your site):

  1. Open the Comments section (if available, located either on the ShoZu home screen or under Share-It)
  2. Open the Comments section (if available, located on the ShoZu home screen)
  3. Choose a comment to read
  4. Select Post comment from the menu to reply (if available)
  5. From the menu click Reply
  6. Enter a comment
  7. From the menu, click Ok

Your reply comment will now be sent to the website.

Tip: New comments download automatically whenever ShoZu connects.

AllFiles Reduce photo size for cheaper uploads

ShoZu can reduce the size of your photos so they are cheaper and quicker to upload, while being an ideal size to view on the web. The original size photo remains on your phone.

  1. From the menu choose Settings
  2. In the Sending/Share-It section click Upload size
  3. Choose Reduced for web

AllFiles Turn on GPS tagging

If your phone has GPS/satellite navigation capabilities ShoZu can add 'geotags' to every photo and video you send. If you're a Flickr user, your photos will appear right on the map!

  1. From the menu choose Settings
  2. In the Sending/Share-It section click GPS tagging
  3. Choose On

ShoZu will search for your GPS device and may prompt you (once only) to give permission.

Note: For geotagging to work your GPS device must be turned on and have a satellite signal at the time you take a photo/video.

AllFiles Maximum upload file size

You can upload an unlimited number of photos and videos of up to 10MB each.

Note: Some sites have monthly upload limits. ShoZu detects this and will wait for the limit to clear before sending your photos and videos.

Can my friends see my recent ShoZu uploads?

Yes. ShoZu provides a RSS feed containing recent videos and photos that you have uploaded using Share-It. Simply give people your Share-It RSS feed URL and they can view your recently upload photos using their RSS reader.

What is my ShoZu RSS feed URL?
Your ShoZu RSS feed URL is unique. It can be found at the bottom of your Share-It destinations page.

Can anyone see my recent ShoZu uploads?
Anyone with your Share-It RSS feed URL can view your recent Share-It uploads. Please ensure that you only give it to people you trust. For your privacy, your feed URL is random making it very difficult to guess.

What is an RSS feed?

RSS or Really Simple Syndication is a way of providing easier access to information that changes frequently. Many news web sites provide RSS feeds of their news stories for example.

An RSS feed is a special web page that contains a summary of information provided by that web site. RSS feeds are meant to be read by computer programs and not people. People use RSS feed readers to view the contents of RSS feeds.

What is a RSS feed reader?

RSS feed readers are computer programs that load RSS feeds and display them in a friendly, easy to read format. To view a RSS feed in a feed reader the feed must be "subscribed" to. While a feed is subscribed to, the feed reader will automatically reload that feed at pre-defined intervals and display any updated content.
